From Students For Liberty

The War on Drugs didn’t stop crime.
It sponsored it.

Cartels, corrupt cops, power-hungry politicians—
They didn’t lose.
They thrived.

We were promised safety.
We got:
– Stronger cartels
– Deadlier drugs
– Overflowing prisons
– Raids on users, not traffickers

Why?
Because when you ban a substance but not the demand, the market doesn’t vanish.
It turns violent.

Contracts are replaced by guns.
Purity is replaced by poison.
And heroin turns into fentanyl.

Police chase quotas.
Politicians chase votes.
And the system profits off chaos.

Meanwhile, young people die.
Poor communities are crushed.
And nothing gets safer—only bloodier.

There’s a better way.
We tried it with alcohol:
Regulation. Safety. Peace.
